It is Monday, and we were remiss on wishing a favorite among the all-time Cleveland Browns players a happy birthday yesterday.
Fans honoring Eric Metcalf is just one of our stories in the Browns Nation news and notes for Monday, January 24, 2022.
1. Baker Mayfield Comments On NFL Divisional Playoffs
Baker Mayfield, like most of us, was glued to his television this weekend also watching four thrilling NFL divisional playoff games.
He took to Twitter to congratulate the winners.
“Congrats to all teams moving on… some extremely competitive football was played this weekend. Was entertaining to watch. Would absolutely much rather be playing, but fun to watch.”

Before signing off, he posted a second tweet which said:
“Nevertheless… social media is toxic. Always kept my circle tight. Time to get back to that. Family and loved ones only.”

The latter post was likely in response to a tweet from Dustin Fox.
“Do you folks see why what you have at quarterback just isn’t good enough? #Browns”

Ironically, Mayfield liked Fox’s post which also raised eyebrows.

2. Happy Belated Birthday Eric Metcalf!
Eric Metcalf turned 54 on Sunday, and fans showed him the love.
The three-time Pro Bowler and 1990 NFL kickoff yards leader injected plenty of excitement in those late 1980s and early 1990s Browns teams.

Here is a highlight to remember.
To this day, it is puzzling why the Steelers chose to kick to Metcalf two times on October 24, 1993.
Regardless, he made them pay.
On October 24, 1993 Eric Metcalf @EricMetcalf21 returns TWO touchdowns against the Pittsburgh Steelers en route to a 28-23 victory at Cleveland Municipal Stadium. GLORIOUS! #Browns pic.twitter.com/QmevwX1TNu

3. Myles Garrett Is Looking “Skinny”
A fan noted that Madden 22 has defensive end Myles Garrett looking a little too skinny.
Pretty sure EASPORTS is gonna have to beef up @Flash_Garrett in Madden ‘23. He’s looking a little skinny in Madden ‘22 💪#Browns pic.twitter.com/5Oj1fPhPFg

EA Sports needs to make the appropriate adjustment for Madden 23.
