The Cleveland Browns added a proven veteran to their quarterback room.
It may have been a year too late, but the fans will get one of their favorites back, as Joe Flacco has officially returned to Cleveland.
Of course, he’s not the youngest player in the league by any means, and he might not be as sharp as he was two years ago, now that more time has passed.
Even so, and even though he might not be able to lead the team to the playoffs again, analyst Nick Wilson still believes the Browns will be easier on the eyes with him at the helm:
“Joe’s the guy that people in this town loves,” Wilson said. “He does fit the system. I don’t know (if) Joe’s going to lead to more wins than last year, but I know it’s going to be more watchable.”
Joe Flacco is who he is at this point in his career, and that’s not likely to change.
Not many people seemed too excited about the idea of Kenny Pickett being the starter, even though Kevin Stefanski and Andrew Berry raved about him.
Pickett hasn’t shown much in the early stages of his career, and some scouts had doubts about him long before he entered the league.
Perhaps he will end up beating Flacco for the QB1 job in training camp, and he might even get his career back on track after years of struggles.
We’ve seen that in the past, and he’s still young, so maybe there’s still something there.
Then again, until he proves it, it’s hard to convince the fan base that he might be their guy.
That’s why signing Flacco, even in this day and age, seems like a legitimate upgrade.
