The Cleveland Browns are likely to take Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter at No. 2.
According to most reports, they’re leaning towards waiting until further down in the NFL Draft to take care of their quarterback situation.
If that’s indeed the case, then Brian Hoyer already knows who he would pick.
Talking to Ken Carman and Anthony Lima on 92.3 The Fan, the former quarterback made a case for Ohio State QB Will Howard.
“You know who I like…it’s Will Howard. The personality, I think guys are going to be drawn to him. I think he has leadership skills. He has ‘aura’. The more I watch him, the more I like him,” Hoyer said.

He argued that he has that ‘it’ factor and gushed about his leadership, and he believes he has some Josh Allen-type plays at times.
Per Hoyer, the Browns need to figure out a way to get him at some point in the NFL Draft if they don’t take a quarterback in the first round.
Howard just led the Buckeyes to a National Championship, and the fan base would embrace him right away, even if he’s not the prospect with the highest upside.
It’s hard to argue with the take on his leadership skills, and he did make a lot of big plays down the stretch en route to the title.
Nevertheless, most scouts believe he’s closer to being a finished product, and he’s projected to be a high-end backup more than a high-end starter.
This year’s quarterback class isn’t very deep, and other than Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, and maybe Jaxson Dart, it doesn’t sound like there’s any sure thing.
The Browns have been tied to Dart in the past couple of weeks, but if they fail to get any of the high-ranked prospects, perhaps they can revisit this possibility.
