The Cleveland Browns have been one of the most discussed teams in the league throughout the NFL’s offseason.
There’s a lot of chatter surrounding them despite having a down year in 2024, as everyone is trying to figure out who they’ll take in the upcoming draft.
A team like the Browns could benefit from several positions, but the front office and coaching staff will need to determine what missing pieces are the most important.
Having the No. 2 overall pick is a privilege, and the Browns want to ensure that they make the best possible decision on draft day.
One of the prospects the Browns have been linked to throughout the offseason is Abdul Carter, one of the more prolific edge rushers in quite some time.
Carter could still go to the Browns if he is available at No. 2, but analyst Tony Grossi isn’t so sure that he’s the team’s top target at the moment.
As he mentioned in a recent X post, the Browns just acquired edge rusher Julian Okwara, a six-year veteran who could bring some experience to this team.
“Further evidence Browns leaning away from Abdul Carter: they’ve signed another edge rusher, Julian Okwara, 6yr veteran & former 3d round draft pick,” Grossi said.

Signing a player like Okwara doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re completely out on Carter, but it will be a situation to monitor in the next few days leading up to the draft.
The Browns also signed Joe Flacco, but considering that they’re still being linked to Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward, there’s no telling what the team will do, especially when it comes to the craziness of what draft night can hold.
