Nick Chubb was one of the NFL’s best running backs until he suffered a severe knee injury in Week 2 of the 2023 season that included a torn MCL and a damaged ACL.
He returned to action in Week 7 of last season, but he simply couldn’t come close at all to his former level of production, and he ended the year with just 332 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns and an average of 3.3 yards per rushing attempt in eight games.
He’s a free agent this offseason, and after spending each of his seven NFL seasons with the Cleveland Browns, he remains unsigned.
Fans want him to remain with the team, and he posted an interesting message on his Instagram account.
“They already wrote my ending when I’m just getting started,” Chubb posted.

Cleveland is coming off a dismal season during which they went 3-14, and their running game was arguably the biggest weakness.
They finished 29th in rushing yards and 30th in rushing touchdowns, and Jerome Ford and D’Onta Foreman, their two other main running backs, simply couldn’t produce at a high enough level.
One key factor in their rushing ineptitude in 2024 was the loss of Kareem Hunt, who was picked up by the Kansas City Chiefs early in the year.
Perhaps there is some hope that Chubb, who is 29 years of age, will be better this coming season after a full offseason of training, strength and conditioning, as opposed to having to spend the offseason rehabbing as he did last year.
He had made the Pro Bowl four straight times prior to the 2023 campaign and had gone over the 1,000-yard mark in each of those four years.
